How to prepare your community for emergencies

How to prepare your community for emergencies

Surrey Prepared is all about stronger communities and encouraging people to work together to plan and prepare for potential emergencies. We call this 'community resilience', and any individual or group can be part of it. All you need to do is:

  • Check if a local group already has a plan – parish councils and residents associations often do.
  • If so, join up with them
  • If not, start your own with willing volunteers
  • Complete a Community Resilience Plan

See this post on the Surrey Prepared website for more details.

The Surrey Community Resilience Partnership is the body behind the 'Surrey Prepared' initiative. The Partnership includes Surrey County Council, the Environment Agency and utility companies. Surrey Prepared is its first initiative, which aims to help households and communities prepare for incidents so they are safer and better informed, as well as being stronger communities all year round.
